In June 2010, South Africa will host the FIFA football World Cup, one of the world's biggest sporting events. It is the first time the event will be held in Africa.

Thirty-two qualifying teams will compete in nine host cities, including Port Elizabeth (Nelson Mandela Bay).

The city will host eight games including a third and fourth place playoff and a quarter final.
